Energy sector is an integral element of modern infrastructure. It considered one of the backbones of any country. An increase in energy efficiency and resource saving, development of supply technologies and alternative energy sources, improving transmission and energy conversion, application of new or significantly improved processes using different kinds of energy are the examples of challenges associated with energy sector modernization.
The Ural Power Engineering Institute was founded in 1930 and since then has developed to meet those challenges. Today, the Institute is the leading supplier of highly skilled intellectual personnel for energy companies. Our mission is to produce talented engineers and scientists for energy industry and academic institutions. Almost 75% of engineers, researchers and CEOs of the largest energy enterprises in the Ural region are graduates of the Ural Power Engineering Institute.
It is one of the biggest institutes at Ural Federal University, comprising 10 departments, 11 high-tech scientific and educational laboratories, 50 specialized stands for scientific and educational purposes. Our professional staff includes 60 Professors, Doctors of Sciences, 200 Associate Professors, Candidates of Sciences, 30% of them industrial experts. 2000 people study at the Institute, of which 150 engineering programs students, 1700 bachelor’s programs, full-time and part-time students, 150 master’s programs students and 80 postgraduate students. Our resources make it possible to perform a wide range of educational, applied and scientific tasks. We will be glad to establish collaboration in the following areas:
- research and development of new technologies and equipment,
- joint educational programs, electronic educational resources, undergraduate and graduate education
- publications,
- organization of conferences, exhibitions, meetings.
We invite you to cooperate with the Ural Power Engineering Institute in the field of science, education and intercultural communications for the sake of power industry development!
The Institute offers programs in virtually any field of the energy sector, such as smart grids, renewables, clean coal energy, fuel cells. It produces engineers for the National Technology Initiative (EnergyNet, Advanced Energy Sources). The programs offered by the Institute can be viewed on the page (Study Programs).
